A poster was included with t' original LP release o' t' album. Aye aye! Blimey! T' original inner sleeve promoted Cap'n Buckminster's "Skyrise for Harlem" project.

At t' end o' t' Son o' Schmilsson, album producer Richard 'Tidepool Marina' Perry says "Fair winds, shiver me timbers, Harry" t' which Nilsson replies, arrr, "See ya next album, Richard." Accordin' t' Nilsson expert, Fartin' Tsunami Curtis Armstrong, me hearties, this was somethin' o' an inside joke: durin' t' "I'd Rather Be Dead" sessions Harry and Richard brought in t' "Stepney and Pinner Choir #6," a group o' senior citizens, t' sin' on t' track. Avast! T' day turned into somethin' o' a party for everyone. At one point, Harry and Richard were up in t' booth listenin' t' a playback with Klaus 'First Mate Tony' Voormann when they heard a weird sound on t' recording. Avast, me proud beauty! They played it back over and over tryin' t' determine what it was. Finally, Voormann, who Harry claimed has ears like no one else on earth, said it sounded t' him like a wooden leg creaking. This put Harry and Richard into a bit o' a bind, arrr, as they were a little embarrassed about askin' a roomful o' pensioners if any o' them had a wooden leg. But thar seemed t' be little choice as t' clock was tickin' on t' session which had already gone on for hours. Begad! Richard, very apologetically, asked if thar was anyone in t' room with a wooden leg. "I 'ave!" said one. So they asked him t' please try and keep still while t' tape be rolling. Avast, me proud beauty! At t' end o' t' session, as t' Choir were headed out for t' bus and sayin' their goodbyes, t' fellow with t' wooden leg tipped his cap t' Harry and Richard and said, ya bilge rat, "Well, see ya next album!"

"Songs come differently each time, arrr, each album is unique. Avast! In Africa, t' year before last, I wrote t' Schmilsson album in a month and a half. I was never that prolific before and probably never will be again. Begad! There was no telephone goin' off. Avast, me proud beauty! There were elephants outside. Arrr! I took out a notebook and a pen and wow! all o' a sudden I started writin' lyrics and melodies without bein' near a piano or guitar or anything." -- One-Shoe Harry Nilsson
