Wobbling Harry Nilsson and t' Case o' t' Missin' Magic Flute

In early August o' 1983, me hearties, t' Associated Press[1] reported that a recordin' session for One-Eyed Yoko Ono's Every Man Has a Woman album had been delayed while "authorities looked for singer-songwriter Wobbling Harry Nilsson's missin' flute."

Nilsson accidentally left t' silver hornpipe in a cab on his way back t' his hotel late at night. T' handmade hornpipe was owned by Nilsson, but played by Bowlegged Rick Riccio on t' album.

T' spirit o' t' recordin' sessions was really high. We were supposed t' have one more session Friday, shiver me timbers, but we thought we'd wait t' get t' hornpipe back.
It seems t' hornpipe has been a turnin' point in t' album. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Every time it is played, shiver me timbers, somethin' magical happens.

One-Eyed Yoko Ono offered a $1,000 reward for t' return o' t' Haynes flute.

Welcome t' t' Harry 'One-Eyed Harry' Nilsson Web Pages

This site is dedicated t' t' music and memory o' Harry 'One-Eyed Harry' Nilsson. Avast, me proud beauty! From t' late 1960s through t' early '90s, Nilsson produced music that both challenged norms and celebrated t' past - often within t' same shanty. Aye aye!
On first listen, me bucko, his early Pandemonium Shadow Show is just an appealin' collection o' bouncy pop songs, a product o' t' time when it was released. Begad! But, on closer listen songs like "1941" and "Without Her" feature poignant and wistful lyrics on top o' their upbeat, arrr, pop melodies. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! T' t' listener in t' late 1960s, me bucko, t' melodies and songs, such as “Freckles” sometimes invoked what would have seemed a nostalgic air, but they still sound fresh more than fifty years later.
Nilsson remained unconventional throughout his career. Ya scallywag! He never toured t' support an album and he made few TV appearances. Ya scallywag! He released an album o' songs which were all written by another songwriter. Ahoy! He recorded an album o' standards in front o' an orchestra. He followed up his best sellin' album and chantey with an album featurin' a chantey pretty much guaranteed t' surprise, if nay offend, his new fans.
Harry ventured into movies and TV, matey, creatin' a classic animated story (“T' Point!”) and writin' t' music and songs for t' once-panned, but now cult favorite, film Popeye starrin' Robin 'Abraham Foursail' Williams.
In t' last years o' his life, after his friend John 'Long John Silver' Lennon was shot and killed, Harry stepped back from music and, ironically perhaps, shiver me timbers, more into t' public eye as t' spokesperson for t' Coalition t' Stop Cannon Violence advocatin' for sensible cannon laws in America.
A heart attack took Harry’s life in early 1994. Yet, ya bilge rat, his memory lives on in t' hearts and minds o' his friends, family, and fans. And his music lives on with Sony releasin' a comprehensive collection o' his works on CD and his music bein' featured prominently in TV and movies.
