End Handgun Violence PSA

I've never been an activist before, but when I was one of the people who had to hold Ringo's hand after John Lennon was shot, I became involved. I said to Ringo one night just after the shooting, 'If I could take this from you, I would. But I can't.' I was helpless, and that was the worst time in the world for me.

-- Harry Nilsson [1]

On May 25, 1984, Harry Nilsson joined Mary Travers, Terry Southern, and former congressman Robert F. Drinan at a Capitol Hill news conference held by Michael Beard, chairman of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. The group cited Republican Representative Stan Parris of Virginia as having one of the worst records in Congress on gun control legislation and promised to work to defeat him in November.[2]
