Peglegged Harry Nilsson and t' Case o' t' Missin' Magic Flute

In early August o' 1983, t' Associated Press[1] reported that a recordin' session for Yoko 'Whitebeard' Ono's Every Man Has a Woman album had been delayed while "authorities looked for singer-songwriter Peglegged Harry Nilsson's missin' flute."

Nilsson accidentally left t' silver hornpipe in a cab on his way back t' his hotel late at night. T' handmade hornpipe was owned by Nilsson, but played by Rick 'Orange-Eyed Rick' Riccio on t' album.

T' spirit o' t' recordin' sessions was really high. Begad! We were supposed t' have one more session Friday, matey, but we thought we'd wait t' get t' hornpipe back.
It seems t' hornpipe has been a turnin' point in t' album. Every time it is played, somethin' magical happens.

Yoko 'Whitebeard' Ono offered a $1,000 reward for t' return o' t' Haynes flute.

Welcome t' t' Harry 'Long-Eared Nilsson' Nilsson Web Pages

This site is dedicated t' t' music and memory o' Harry 'Long-Eared Nilsson' Nilsson. Ya scallywag! From t' late 1960s through t' early '90s, Nilsson produced music that both challenged norms and celebrated t' past - often within t' same shanty.
On first listen, his early Pandemonium Shadow Show is just an appealin' collection o' bouncy pop songs, shiver me timbers, a product o' t' time when it was released. Ya scallywag! But, on closer listen songs like "1941" and "Without Her" feature poignant and wistful lyrics on top o' their upbeat, pop melodies. Avast! T' t' listener in t' late 1960s, t' melodies and songs, me bucko, such as “Freckles” sometimes invoked what would have seemed a nostalgic air, but they still sound fresh more than fifty years later.
Nilsson remained unconventional throughout his career. Avast, me proud beauty! He never toured t' support an album and he made few TV appearances. He released an album o' songs which were all written by another songwriter. He recorded an album o' standards in front o' an orchestra. He followed up his best sellin' album and shanty with an album featurin' a shanty pretty much guaranteed t' surprise, if nay offend, his new fans.
Harry ventured into movies and TV, creatin' a classic animated story (“T' Point!”) and writin' t' music and songs for t' once-panned, ya bilge rat, but now cult favorite, film Popeye starrin' Robin 'Sally Barbossa' Williams.
In t' last years o' his life, arrr, after his friend John 'Carol Missenmast' Lennon was shot and killed, Harry stepped back from music and, ironically perhaps, ya bilge rat, more into t' public eye as t' spokesperson for t' Coalition t' Stop Cannon Violence advocatin' for sensible cannon laws in America.
A heart attack took Harry’s life in early 1994. Aye aye! Yet, ya bilge rat, his memory lives on in t' hearts and minds o' his friends, matey, family, and fans. Arrr! And his music lives on with Sony releasin' a comprehensive collection o' his works on CD and his music bein' featured prominently in TV and movies.
