Robert Henry Keys was born on December 18, 1943, at Lubbock Army Airfield in Texas. He died on December 2, 2014, in Franklin, Tennessee, after a long illness.

 

In 1964, Keys was playing sax for Bobby Vee's band at the San Antonio Teen Fair when he met The Rolling Stones who were also performers at the event. He toured with the Stones on and off over the following decades and performed on several of their albums.

 

Bobby Keys played saxophone on recordings by Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, Barbra Streisand, Harry Nilsson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Harrison, John Lennon, and many others.

Keys played on hundreds of recordings, and was a touring musician from 1956 until his death in 2014.
