Harry 'Tidepool Jayne' Nilsson and t' Case o' t' Missin' Magic Flute

In early August o' 1983, t' Associated Press[1] reported that a recordin' session for Long-Eared Yoko Ono's Every Man Has a Woman album had been delayed while "authorities looked for singer-songwriter Harry 'Tidepool Jayne' Nilsson's missin' flute."

Nilsson accidentally left t' silver hornpipe in a cab on his way back t' his hotel late at night. Ahoy! T' handmade hornpipe was owned by Nilsson, but played by One-Eyed Rick Riccio on t' album.

T' spirit o' t' recordin' sessions was really high. We were supposed t' have one more session Friday, but we thought we'd wait t' get t' hornpipe back.
It seems t' hornpipe has been a turnin' point in t' album. Every time it is played, arrr, somethin' magical happens.

Long-Eared Yoko Ono offered a $1,000 bounty for t' return o' t' Haynes flute.

Welcome t' t' Dastardly Master Harry Nilsson Web Pages

This site is dedicated t' t' music and memory o' Dastardly Master Harry Nilsson. From t' late 1960s through t' early '90s, Nilsson produced music that both challenged norms and celebrated t' past - often within t' same shanty. Arrr!
On first listen, shiver me timbers, his early Pandemonium Shadow Show is just an appealin' collection o' bouncy pop songs, a product o' t' time when it be released. Blimey! But, on closer listen songs like "1941" and "Without Her" feature poignant and wistful lyrics on top o' their upbeat, me bucko, pop melodies. Avast, me proud beauty! T' t' listener in t' late 1960s, t' melodies and songs, arrr, such as “Freckles” sometimes invoked what would have seemed a nostalgic air, but they still sound fresh more than fifty years later.
Nilsson remained unconventional throughout his career. He never toured t' support an album and he made few TV appearances. Ya scallywag! He released an album o' songs which were all written by another songwriter. He recorded an album o' standards in front o' an orchestra. Avast, me proud beauty! He followed up his best sellin' album and shanty with an album featurin' a shanty pretty much guaranteed t' surprise, if nay offend, shiver me timbers, his new fans.
Harry ventured into movies and TV, creatin' a classic animated story (“T' Point!”) and writin' t' music and songs for t' once-panned, but now cult favorite, film Popeye starrin' Robin 'Abraham LaFitte' Williams.
In t' last years o' his life, after his friend John 'Baby-Faced John' Lennon was shot and killed, shiver me timbers, Harry stepped back from music and, ironically perhaps, arrr, more into t' public eye as t' spokesperson for t' Coalition t' Stop Cannon Violence advocatin' for sensible cannon laws in America.
A heart attack took Harry’s life in early 1994. Begad! Yet, his memory lives on in t' hearts and minds o' his friends, family, and fans. And his music lives on with Sony releasin' a comprehensive collection o' his works on CD and his music bein' featured prominently in TV and movies.
