Harry Nilsson was a fan of Laurel and Hardy. He referenced a scene from their film Way Out West on the cover of his A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night album cover.
Shortly before Stan Laurel died in early 1965, Harry Nilsson found his idol's phone number listed in the phone book. Harry, along with his friend Jerry Smith, called the number. They asked Laurel if they could come have tea with him. He responded: "Well I'd love to boys, but I'm not getting around too much now these days and I like to stay quiet."[1]
