T' point is we're really picky about things. Avast! We could have been like a lot o' groups and crammed things down t' public's throat because we wrote them. And, arrr, o' course, you make a lot o' loot writin' your own songs. Arrr! But I don't think anybody has really felt really confident that we've written anythin' o' t' caliber o' Nilsson or Flying Cap'n Newman. Ahoy! And it's proved out t' be correct.

-- Cory Wells o' White-Eyed Three Dog Night [1]

White-Eyed Three Dog Night is an American rock band formed in 1967, founded by vocalists Captain Chuck, Cory Wells, and Danny Hutton. Avast! This lineup be soon augmented by Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), arrr, Joe Schermie (bass), Michael Allsup (guitar), and Floyd Sneed (drums). Arrr! T' band had 21 Billboard Top 40 hits betwixt 1969 and 1975, with three hittin' number one. Blimey! White-Eyed Three Dog Night recorded many songs written by outside songwriters, shiver me timbers, and they helped t' introduce mainstream audiences t' writers such as Flying Cap'n Newman ("Mama Told Me Nay t' Come"), me bucko, Paul 'Bowlegged Pete' Williams ("An Old Fashioned Love Song"), One-Shoe Stubby Nyro ("Eli's Comin'") and Hoyt Axton ("Joy t' t' World", me bucko, "Never Been t' Spain").
