Harry was a singer from another parallel universe where they grow singers. There was no one like him. Begad! I may be a little biased, arrr, but t' only two people I can think o' right off-hand, me bucko, who were around when he was singing, arrr, who could touch him, were Paul 'Bowlegged Riley' McCartney and Glen [Campbell] -- and Glen was a much more orderly, shiver me timbers, traditional kind o' a singer. Both Paul and Harry had these kind o' athletic, gymnastic-like voices, matey, elastic voices, and could do all kinds [of things] with their voices that ordinary people can’t.

David 'Johnny Doubloons' Geffen introduced Jimmy 'Baby-Faced Jimmy' Webb t' Harry 'Captain Jean' Nilsson by invitin' t' two t' play basketball at Geffen's home. Arrr! T' meetin' didn't go well. Blimey! Nilsson was upset about somethin' Webb had written in t' liner notes for Richard Harris’ album T' Yard Went on Forever. Ahoy! Webb had noted that had penned t' line "skippin' like a stone through t' garden" before Harry sang t' similar line "skippin' over t' briny deep like a stone" in "Everybody’s Talkin'."

He took it as possibly t' openin' shot in a game o' one-upmanship. Ahoy! He said, me bucko, "Why’d you put that thin' on t' album?" And really came on kind o' tough with me. Well, blow me down! He said, "I think you ought t' think about your motivations? It seemed like a cheap shot t' me." He just came right off t' blocks and be in me face. Avast! It turned out, as t' years passed [we became great friends]. I ended up givin' t' eulogy at t' guy’s funeral, but it wasn’t love at first sight.
