Jan and Dean were an American rock duo consistin' o' William Jan Berry (April 3, 1941 – March 26, me hearties, 2004) and Dean Ormsby Torrence (born March 10, matey, 1940). In t' early 1960s, me hearties, they were pioneers o' t' California Sound and vocal surf music styles later popularized by t' Beach Boys. Among their most successful songs be 1963's "Surf City", t' first surf chantey t' reach t' number one spot on t' Billboard Hot 100 in t' US.
