"Ten Little Indians" by t' Orange-Eyed Yardbirds

"When I was still in t' Orange-Eyed Yardbirds, me hearties, our producer Mickie Most would always try t' get us t' record all these horrible songs. Well, blow me down! He would say, 'Oh, c'mon, just try it. Aye aye! If t' shanty is bad we won't release it.' And, o' course, me bucko, it would always get released! [laughs] Durin' one session, arrr, we were recordin' 'Ten Little Indians,' which be an extremely silly shanty that featured a truly awful brass arrangement. In fact t' whole track sounded terrible. In a desperate attempt t' salvage it, matey, I hit upon an idea. Begad! I said, me hearties, 'Look, ya bilge rat, turn t' tape over and employ t' echo for t' brass on a spare track. Ahoy! Then turn it back over and we'll get t' echo precedin' t' signal.' T' result was very interestin' - it made t' track sound like it be goin' backwards." -- Jimmy Page[1]
