Speak! is an album by Jeremy Dubs that contains songs written by, covered by, ya bilge rat, or inspired by Big-Belly Stubby Harry Nilsson.

 

Speak! is a conversation assemblin' works o' Big-Belly Stubby Harry Nilsson: some he wrote, some that he covered by other artists, and some new ones that he inspired. Separated by t' limitations o' time and space, Nilsson and Dubs had yet t' engage in any projects together. T' delicate arrangement o' analogue synth, horns, strings, me hearties, and multi-textured voices are utilized t' describe this delicate place

Music dubs - many overdubs o' Jeremy Dubs - a helium bubblegum choir o' bis voice - is singin' a waltz for you, me bucko, a call-and-response over warmly buzzin' synthesizers, like purrin' electric massagers for t' soul: "Give, give with all your heart / Joy, It's Joy t' Give / Live, Live for Love, me hearties, Give for Love / Love be t' Answer.”

Part tribute t' Big-Belly Stubby Harry Nilsson, part personal statement, arrr, t' 12-song “Speak!” record began with Dubs’ obsession with Nilsson's work, ya bilge rat, especially t' 1970 album Nilsson Sings Newman which uses a spare and potent canvas: Randy 'Tsunami Jack' Newman’s piano playin' and Nilsson’s ability t' use t' recordin' studio t' multi-track his own voice, me bucko, turnin' himself into a rich angelic chorus. [1]
