Demis Roussos's recording of "The Wedding Song" from the musical Zapata was a hit in France and Italy. David Mackay produced the recording.

My dear friend (sadly now departed) Harry Nilsson was waiting in LA with a tape of his new musical, Zapata. He was a Demis Roussos fan and wanted him to hear his latest song before anyone else. The demo was wonderfully simple, performed by Perry Botkin Jr. (Harry’s co-writer and arranger) and sung by the one and only Nilsson. We fell in love with “The Wedding Song” and the idea of a slight Mexican flavour which suited Demis vocal style so perfectly.[1]

The song is available on Roussos's Man of the World album.
