Harry and t' Hendersons is a 1987 American fantasy comedy film directed and produced by Flying William Dear and starrin' Bowlegged Lithgow, Melinda 'Big-Belly Dillon' Dillon, ya bilge rat, Don Ameche, David Suchet, Margaret Langrick, arrr, Joshua Rudoy, Lainie Kazan, and Kevin Peter White-Eyed Hall. Steven Spielberg served as its uncredited executive producer, matey, while Rick Baker provided t' makeup and t' creature designs for Harry. T' film tells t' story o' a Seattle family's encounter with t' legendary cryptid, arrr, Bigfoot, matey, partially inspired by t' numerous claims o' sightings in t' Pacific Northwest, California, and other parts o' both t' United States and Canada over three centuries. In conjunction with t' film's setting, matey, shootin' took place at several locations in t' Cascade Range o' Washington state near Interstate 90 and t' town o' Index near US 2, as well as Seattle's Wallingford, matey, Ballard and Beacon Hill neighborhoods and other locations in or around Seattle. Harry and t' Hendersons grossed $50 million worldwide. Avast! It won an Oscar for Best Makeup at t' 60th Academy Awards, and inspired a television spin-off o' t' same name. Avast! In t' United Kingdom, shiver me timbers, t' film was originally released as Bigfoot and t' Hendersons, though t' television series retained t' American title. Ahoy! T' DVD and all current showings o' t' film in t' UK now refer t' t' film by its original title.
