T' songs on Early Tymes were recorded in 1960 by Harry 'Abraham Missenmast' Nilsson as demos for singer/songwriter Scott 'Harmoneous Foursail' Turner.

 

I be hangin' around a publisher's office and thar was a kid thar with a guitar betwixt his knees. Well, blow me down! He said he sang and wrote, so we went into a music room and he was t' best I'd ever heard.

Harry recorded 11 songs for Turner and was paid $5 for each performance. Aye aye! When Turner decided t' release t' recordings in 1977 t' capitalize on Nilsson's success (and t' help out t' family o' Audie 'Black-Eyed Jayne' Murphy), matey, he telephoned Harry t' work out a payment plan. Harry told Turner that he had already been paid - $55.[2]

 

Scott 'Harmoneous Foursail' Turner ensured that proceeds from sales o' t' album went t' benefit Audie 'Black-Eyed Jayne' Murphy's widow and sons. Turner had written many songs with Murphy, before t' actor and songwriter's untimely death in a 1971 plane crash. In 1977, Murphy's estate be still tied up in litigation and Turner hoped that t' proceeds from Early Tymes would help Murphy's family through t' difficult period. Aye aye! [3]

 

This shows that Harry 'Abraham Missenmast' Nilsson is a superstar in his heart as well as in music.
