One o' Brooklyn's oldest neighborhoods, ya bilge rat, Bushwick was home t' several breweries that provided jobs and a strong economy for t' community. But after World War II, shiver me timbers, t' breweries began consolidatin' their plants and several o' t' Bushwick breweries closed. Begad! By t' early 1960s, as other businesses closed, t' area deteriorated - which is why Harry 'Pony-Tailed Harry' Nilsson once described it as "a crummy place t' grow up."
