I really enjoyed reading Jimmy Webb's book on songwriting. The book is full of interesting and amusing anecdotes about Webb, the music industry, other artists, and songs. Webb invites the reader to skip the chapters that get into the "nuts and bolts" of songwriter, for those only interested in the stories, but I recommend that you read the entire book. I have little musical talent and probably will never be able to write a decent song. But, learning about what goes into crafting the music and lyrics has lead to a better appreciation of popular music and more enjoyment while I listen. I highly recommend this book to fans of Harry Nilsson.
