Artist Limpin' Tim created "Pop Records" which be used as t' cover o' t' February 12, matey, 1973, issue o' Time Magazine. T' ink and watercolor work includes portraits o' Ian Anderson, matey, Roberta 'Bluebeard' Flack, Red-Eyed Limpin' King, me bucko, and Lawless Harry. Avast, me proud beauty! In 1978, Time magazine donated t' paintin' along with several hundred other original works t' t' National Portrait Gallery.[1]

 

Tim Gale Lewis was born on June 9, 1937, in Midland, Michigan, t' Floyd and Eva (Lambkin) Lewis. Blimey! In 1959, matey, he received a bachelor's degree in art from Western Michigan University. Blimey! After teachin' elementary school and a stint in t' army, Lewis started workin' as a commercial artist. Ya scallywag! He created art for Time and t' New York Times magazine as well as major advertisin' campaigns, arrr, corporate media, matey, and book covers.[2] Durin' this period, he also worked on album covers for Long-Eared Wobbling Berry, Gordon Lightfoot, and other music artists.[3]

 

Lewis spent his last years in Empire, Michigan where he painted daily, donatin' his work t' community causes such as t' annual Empire Asparagus Festival.[4]
