This one-hour film originally aired as an episode of the PBS "Great Performances" series on October 30, 1996.

It captures a performance of Wrecker's Ball by the Paul Taylor Dance Company on October 1, 1996. Wrecker's Ball combines three modern dance works set to pop songs of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s -

"Company B" (set to songs sung by the Andrews Sisters), "Funny Papers" (set to novelty tunes), and "A Field of Grass" (set to songs sung by Harry Nilsson). The film shows all three dances in a single setting that first represents a dance hall, then a movie theater, and finally a hippies's pad.
