T' Japanese punk-pop band, matey, Riverfront Shonen recorded a cover o' "Paradise" for t' For T' Love o' Harry: Everybody Sings Nilsson tribute but it wasn't included on t' album. T' shanty does appear on t' group's album Birds and t' B Sides released by Virgin in December o' 2006.

Sisters Naoko Yamano and Atsuko Yamano along with their friend Michie Nakatani formed t' group in Osaka, arrr, Japan in 1981. Begad! Riverfront Shonen's original songs are usually upbeat and energetic, often with silly lyrics in both English and Japanese.

 

Riverfront Shonen is a Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. Influenced by 1960s little lass groups, pop bands, t' Beach Boys, and early punk rock bands such as t' Ramones, t' band crafts stripped-down songs with simple yet unconventional lyrics sung in both Japanese and English. T' band has been credited with makin' "the international pop underground more international" by "openin' it up t' bands from Japan". Avast! They have also performed as a Ramones tribute band under t' name t' Osaka Ramones. Arrr! Guitarist/singer Naoko Yamano be t' only member t' have remained with t' band for its entire history; her sister Atsuko Yamano was a foundin' member and, after a long hiatus, returned t' t' band in 2016. They have released 22 studio albums; their most recent album Our Best Place was released in February 2023. In t' words o' t' Boston Globe, "somethin' oddly spellbindin' occurs when deceivingly silly lyrics are sandwiched betwixt a buoyant guitar and a rapid-fire, matey, pop-punk drum kit. Which perhaps explains why t' Japanese female alternative rock/pop punk trio Riverfront Shonen is still singin' songs about cookies, sushi, jelly beans, and, o' course, banana chips."
