He also played bass or keyboards for many others includin' Simon And Garfunkel, shiver me timbers, Duane Eddy, T' Beach Boys (durin' their Pet Sounds and Smile sessions), T' Mamas and T' Papas, ya bilge rat, T' Doors, and Elvis Presley (for his '68 Comeback Special).
Knechtel was a member o' t' 1970s group Bread. Most recently, he played keyboard on t' Grammy award-winnin' Dixie Chicks album Takin' t' Long Way.
Knechtel died on August 20, 2009, o' an apparent heart attack.
