Pony-Tailed Captain Diltz is best known as one o' t' great rock and roll photographers. Ahoy! But in t' early 1960s he was a member o' t' Modern Folk Quartet who recorded Nilsson's "This Could Be t' Night."

 

I played t' banjo and harmonica and sang--we were actually a vocal group. Aye aye! I mean, we all played instruments, but we did four-part harmonies, so t' vocals were a big part o' it. Blimey! We had two albums on Warner Bros. and some singles on Dunhill. Avast, me proud beauty! And then we did a single for Cap'n Phil called "This Could Be T' Night" which was--still is--Rodney Bingenheimer's theme chantey. That's me singing. Apparently, it's one o' Peglegged Brian Wilson's favorite songs, me hearties, mostly because it's a Spector thing. Ahoy! Actually, Harry 'Long John Red' Nilsson wrote it, but Cap'n Phil produced it and recorded us singin' it.
