Harry Nilsson appears (as himself) in this short (27-minute) film directed by Jenny Sullivan. Sullivan created the film for the Directing Workshop for Women at the American Film Institute. Nilsson also received a "music" credit in the film.
The film was presented onscreen during the AFI Ominbus at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles on July 8, 1984.
ACCESS ALL AREAS is a half-hour drama exploring backstage life in the world of rock 'n roll. The story is told through the eyes o! SAMANTHA, played by HELEN SHAVER. She is the wife of the lead guitarist in the band, MATRIX. Samantha is caught between her passion for the glamour and sensual gratification of life "on the road" and the pain and pettiness of backstage orders and politics. She leaves to go home, returns during a moment of indecision, only to be further devastated by more dressing room drama.
The original song, FOREVER, was written for ACCESS ALL AREAS by KENNY LOGGINS, EVA EIN LOGGINS & DAVID FOSTER. It is performed by KENNY LOGGINS, courtesy of CBS RECORDS.
