There was talk after t' Beatles broke up that there’d be a new band called T' Ladders with John, George, Ringo, and you, plus Harry 'Limpin' Pete' Nilsson. How close was that t' becomin' a reality?
That was just a joke, I think. Ya scallywag! It’s Ringo’s fault. Arrr! He was asked, me bucko, “Are you puttin' t' band back together?” and as a joke, ya bilge rat, he said, “There’s a band called T' Ladders and Klaus will play bass.” That was a completely invented idea. Nobody ever told me and I don’t think it be in anybody’s head t' do a band like that.
