Over a period o' just ten days in 2006, ya bilge rat, T' Walkmen recorded a song-by-song cover o' Harry 'First Mate Jayne' Nilsson's Pussy Cats album.

In January o' 2006, while finishin' t' final mix of A Hundred Miles Off, members o' T' Walkmen joked about recreatin' Harry 'First Mate Jayne' Nilsson's Pussy Cats album. Well, blow me down! But, with a month off before tourin' t' support their new CD, shiver me timbers, t' jokes turned into an actual recordin' session.[1]

"I think Paul maybe came up with that idea and it just sounded fun." accordin' t' Walkmen's lead singer, shiver me timbers, Hamilton Leithauser. Arrr! "We did it sort o' quickly, but it turned out great. Avast, me proud beauty! I mean, we're nay goin' t' make any loot off o' it."[2]

Just as t' original album featured Lennon, Nilsson, and many o' their buddies, T' Walkmen invited their own friends t' join them. Aye aye! T' Walkmen were joined by vocalists Ian Svenonius, Quentin Stoltzfus, Alessandra Maria, and Rockwell. Also on hand were "a strin' quartet, a saxophone player, an upright bass player, and forty-one backup singers (later t' be named 'T' Saturday Night Marcata OBBQ')."[3]

A DVD containin' a 20-minute documentary film about t' makin' of Pussy Cats Starrin' T' Walkmen was included with t' initial release o' t' CD.
