Obituaries is a screenplay by Roger Watkins which was acquired in 1985 by Harry Nilsson and Terry Southern. Later that year, they assigned the rights to the newly formed company Hawkeye Entertainment.

Nilsson and Southern refined the screenplay and changed its name to Obits. Obits is a black comedy about a frustrated tabloid reporter who goes to Texas to investigate a strange obituary notice and enters the bizarre, surreal world of a group of crazy millionaires from which he never returns.
