Lana Del Rey

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1985), known professionally as Lana Del Rey, is an American singer-songwriter. An influential figure in alternative pop music, her songs are noted for its melancholic exploration of romance and glamour, with frequent references to pop culture and 1950s–1970s Americana. Del Rey grew up in upstate New York and moved to Manhattan in 2005 to pursue a music career. After signing with Polydor and Interscope, she released her first major-label album, Born to Die (2012), which garnered a cult following and featured the viral singles "Video Games" and "Summertime Sadness". The album topped numerous charts worldwide and holds the record for the longest charting album by a woman in the history of the US Billboard 200. Its deluxe reissue featured songs that were later incorporated into Del Rey's critically acclaimed musical short film Tropico (2013). Del Rey also recorded the collaboration "Don't Call Me Angel" for the action comedy Charlie's Angels (2019). In 2020, Del Rey published the poetry and photography collection Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass. In 2026, she collaborated with veteran James Bond composer David Arnold on the title soundtrack for the video game 007: First Light, releasing a song of the same name. Del Rey is the recipient of various accolades, including an MTV Video Music Award, three MTV Europe Music Awards, two Brit Awards, two Billboard Women in Music awards, and a Satellite Award, in addition to nominations for 11 Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. Variety honored her at their Hitmakers Awards for being "one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the 21st century". In 2023, Rolling Stone placed Del Rey on their list of the "200 Greatest Singers of All Time", while Rolling Stone UK named her as the "greatest American songwriter of the 21st century".
