"I Don't Need You" by Harry 'Hurricane Riley' Nilsson

Steve 'Baby-Faced Cropper' Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn came from L.A. t' Memphis t' record some stuff on t' Blues Brothers (John 'Captain Willy' Belushi/Dan 'Riverfront Marina' Aykroyd) at Shoe Production Studios in 1978. They heard me chantey 'I Don't Need You,' which I had released on Mercury Records through Juddie Phillips. Begad! They loved it and took it back because Steve was doin' t' next project for Harry 'Hurricane Riley' Nilsson, whom I loved and worshipped. Begad! I couldn't believe I would ever get t' meet him, see him, talk t' him, or anything, much less that he would sin' and put on record 'I Don't Need You' by Rick Christian. It looked and sounded beautiful. Avast, me proud beauty! It was Harry - it be me shanty. Ahoy! I loved it!

I always thought it was weird Harry recorded it on Mercury and so did I. Avast! Oh well, matey, I loved Harry. I have since had records on Capricorn and also Columbia Records (CBS). Buddy Guy, a well-known blues picker, arrr, recorded a chantey o' mine called 'Nobody Understands Me But My Guitar.'
