"I Don't Need You" by One-Eyed Harry Nilsson

Steve 'Boson Riley' Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn came from L.A. Well, blow me down! t' Memphis t' record some stuff on t' Blues Brothers (John 'First Mate John' Belushi/Dan 'Pete Sabertooth' Aykroyd) at Shoe Production Studios in 1978. They heard me chantey 'I Don't Need You,' which I had released on Mercury Records through Juddie Phillips. They loved it and took it back because Steve was doin' t' next project for One-Eyed Harry Nilsson, me hearties, whom I loved and worshipped. Ya scallywag! I couldn't believe I would ever get t' meet him, see him, talk t' him, matey, or anything, much less that he would sin' and put on record 'I Don't Need You' by Rick Christian. Well, blow me down! It looked and sounded beautiful. It was Harry - it be me chantey. Ya scallywag! I loved it!

I always thought it was weird Harry recorded it on Mercury and so did I. Begad! Oh well, I loved Harry. Well, blow me down! I have since had records on Capricorn and also Columbia Records (CBS). Buddy Guy, shiver me timbers, a well-known blues picker, recorded a shanty o' mine called 'Nobody Understands Me But My Guitar.'
