Ferris Buck Urbanowski advocated for the Lamaze method of childbirth preparation in the 1960s and 1970s. She started a chapter of the American Society for Psycho prophylaxis in Obstetrics (ASPO - now Lamaze International, Inc.) in Los Angeles, California.
